April
Meeting
The April meeting, held at the Bayport Aerodrome,
was very interesting for the many members in
attendance. Russ Faller, a retired TWA captain
and an A&P, was the guest speaker. Russ is
building an all-metal kit airplane, the RV-8. The
kit is manufactured by Vans Aircraft and will
cruise at 200 MPH with the 160 HP Lycoming engine
that Russ has installed. He began the meeting by
describing the RV-8 and its specifications. Russ
answered members’ questions and then took
everyone to his hangar to show how he was
progressing with his project. It was enlightening
to see an aircraft that was under construction
and all the work and detail that goes into it.
Russ hopes to complete construction by this
summer and then fly it to his home in Florida.
Everyone was impressed with the quality of the
work that he has completed. Back
