At the top of this article you have seen the construction of the S29-A. This is the follow up of this aircraft. In 1926 the plane was sold to racing pilot Roscoe Turner who used it for advertising and charter flights. In 1928 he sold it to Howard Hughes to be used in his movie “Hell’s Angels”. The plane was modified to resemble a German Gotha bomber and was destroyed in a spectacular crash. The pilot,Al Wilson, was able to bail out. The mechanic, Phil Jones, at the rear of the plane never heard the pilot call and went down with the plane. This was the end of a plane ahead of it’s time.
